After the last annual meeting of BRIAS (Bavarian Research Institute for African Studies) took place in 2021, the partners have now met again in presence on 20.01.2023. Representatives of the Universities of Würzburg and Bayreuth, as well as the University of Applied Sciences Neu-Ulm and the Technical University Ingolstadt were present in the Iwalewahaus of the University of Bayreuth. A representative of the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, whose membership in BRIAS is desired by both sides but has yet to be confirmed by the relevant bodies, was digitally connected. Among the topics discussed were cooperation in the areas of research and teaching. The latter, according to the idea, should take place primarily in the context of the Bavaria-wide additional study afriZert, in which the partners of BRIAS contribute individual teaching components and thus complement the existing portfolio at the University of Bayreuth with their respective expertise. In addition, Prof. Cyrus Samimi has handed over the chairmanship to Prof. Eberhard Rothfuß.
